Day 01Fes – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga - Erg Chebbi
After the breakfast in the Riad we will leave to the desert around 08:00 a. m. Our passage to the desert will be through the scenic slopes of the Atlas Mountain Range. First, we experience the beauty of the cedar forests in the Middle Atlas, and enter the world of the Berber people as we pass many of the mountain villages. We pass by Ifrane, a charming ski resort and Azrou, an important handicraft center specializing in cedar woodwork. In Midelt, we stop for lunch and enjoy the unique backdrop of this town that is nestled in between the middle and high Atlas mountains. We continue our drive towards the desert via Erfoud, and our night will be at guest house.
Day 02Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – Merzouga - Camel Ride
The day is dedicated to discover the oriental Sahara desert. We will drive through the desert on a 4×4, visiting the nomads at Erg Chebbi. We also go to the village of the dark-skinned people named “Khamlia” and enjoy the original music and folk songs of the Gnawas and visit Rissani, the last major city of about 40km west of Erg Chebbi. Rissani itself is very interesting. From 8 to 14 century it was a separate kingdom, known as Sijilmassa, prosperous of the caravan routes and visit market - souk, interesting in that it is not tourist souk, but for the people living there. 3 times a week is the market with sheep and donkeys. From there back to the hotel. Camel ride at sunset and overnight stay in a Berber tent in the heart of Erg Chebbi dunes. in the desert you can experience sandboarding.
Day 03Merzouga – Rissani – Todgha Gorges
After enjoying a fresh shower and an open air breakfast at the edge of the desert overlooking the dunes, we then depart for Erfoud. It is one of the oldest known sites, where you can find precious and unique fossils. As we make our way through the palm tree groves, we stop for lunch on the way and head to Todgha Gorges, a magnificent canyon in the Atlas Mountains. We will have a walk through the canyon floor with the spectacular cliffs surrounding us on either side. We end the day in Todgha Gorges. It is a perfect destination overlooking the fertile valley below and the panorama of the mountains beyond. Dinner and overnight in the guesthouse.
Day 04Dades Gorge – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Marrakech
After breakfast at the guesthouse, we then depart for Marrakech. There are still many sites and things to explore on your final day before arriving in Marrakech. We will follow the Dades Valley through El Kelaa Magona, the Valley of the Roses and the road of a thousand Kasbahs. We will drive via Tichka Pass on our way back to Marrakech.
